What is Your Skin Type?

What is your skin type? You can read the descriptions of 4 different skin types, below, to determine what yours is. Basically, your skin type is determined by the amount of oil your facial skin produces.

Normal skin: This skin type has an even texture and medium-sized pores. This is what most people wish they had if they don’t. It’s what people with skin challenges strive for. It’s considered the ideal skin type and looks healthy and smooth looking.

Normal skin type has good color and good circulation. People with normal skin might have the small problem of the skin on their cheeks becoming a little dry – depending on weather, diet and other factors.

Oily skin: This skin type usually has larger pores and the skin itself looks shiny and a little greasy looking. Because of the larger pores, blemishes show up more and blackheads are more of a pain to deal with.

Dry skin: This skin type feels tight after cleansing and has been found to be more prone to flaking, fine wrinkles and redish patches. Sometimes it looks dull and this is because of dead skin cells building up on the surface of the skin.

Sensitive skin: This skin type is thin, has fine pores and is delicate. A person with sensitive skin seem to blush more easily and get rashes a lot faster than those without it. Skin irritations can be a problem and often times, you’ll see broken capillaries on the faces of those with thin skin. The skin types mentioned above are the main types of skin most people will encounter. There are other factors but I won’t go into them in the scope of this blog post.

Even though your genes determine what kind of skin type you have naturally, the way you live can also affect your skin type. Things like nutrition, stress and medication as well as many other factors can change your skin and it’s condition.

No matter what type of skin you have, addressing these issues will ensure that you will make the most of the skin that you have inherited and reduce the problems that are associated with your skin type.
