Face Care Tips for Dry Skin

dryskinFace Care Tips for Dry Skin
My biggest problem with my facial skin is how dried out it gets. Dry skin will react differently than normal skin when one is out in the sunshine. Dry skin burns easily and burned skin will eventually peel. And believe you me! That is no fun. Which is why I always use Obagi C Rx C-Sunguard SPF 30 before I go outside.

If you have dry skin, sunburn will cause  your skin to become irritable and itchy. Even cold weather can be a problem – especially when the air is very dry and cold. It makes your face feel as if it’s cracking off. Again, no fun.

And when my skin is really dry, sometimes it gets scaly and chapped and then my face feels sore. I hate that! People like me, with dry skin often are fair complected. But that doesn’t mean that if you don’t have fair skin, you won’t suffer from overly dry skin.

There are so many factors that contribute to dry skin. One of them is that as we age, we lose elastin in our facial skin and that skin becomes drier with time (unfortunately!). Other factors can and do include the environment (pollution), what kind of food we eat, and as I mentioned earlier, the weather. Sometimes, certain medications will dry out your skin.

When a person has dry facial skin, the skin shed the skin cells in clumps. Normal skin sheds skin cells one at a time. This clumpy shedding is what leads to scaly and flaky skin conditions.  Yuck. Sounds gross, doesn’t it?

Lack of moisture is not the only reason why a person could have dry skin. However, having said that, a good moisturizer will help reduce dry facial skin, but always make sure you pick a moisturizer that doesn’t STOP the shedding of skin cells. Who would have thought there was so much to think about when in comes to getting rid of dry skin?

Check out this selection of moisturizers from SkinCareRx.com to find one that fits your needs.

I like to gently exfoliate my skin once a week. This routine actually helps moisturizers do a better job. But, I learned that I need to be careful with exfoliating since over doing it made my skin red and sensitive. Not a pretty picture!

A fantastic exfoliator and is SkinMedica Skin Polisher – Facial Exfoliant. You won’t believe how smooth your skin will feel.
